Of course, it was a matter of time before she found her way here. Please welcome Sophie and come say hi in the comments! – Niels Hi there, everyone! It’s always nice to see a long-gestating dream come to fruition, and today we’re excited to release the first episode of Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs: The Podcast! Our first episode features Niels, Marc, and Natee discussing a few recent paleontology news items and discussing a classic Vintage Dinosaur Art title. Niels also interviews Joschua Knüppe about his brand new graphic novel, Europasaurus. I’m not on this episode but hope to join in the fun in future installments (though…
Inspired by a few people I saw tweeting inquiries about how to find places to buy paleoart online, I’ve started a new project to help the paleoart community reach consumers. Sometimes when I come across tweets from hungry paleoart enthusiasts, I’ll share links to my gift guides, but it struck me that having a master list of paleoart shops would be really useful. My answer is the Paleoart Shop Index, I’m crowdsourcing with the help of the paleoart community. What…
Invertefest is a periodic event begun on Twitter to celebrate the wonders of invertebrates through photos, videos, and art. Begun by Kelly Brenner, Maureen Berg, and Franz Anthony, the next incarnation of the event will take place on August 21-23, 2020. Franz contacted me because he was interested in getting some paleo-folk involved, so I had the idea to do a special paleo-version of Invertefest here at LITC. After the event closes, on August 23, I’ll compile paleoart shared on…
It’s finally here! The results of the second Survey of Paleoartists have been published. As you may recall, the survey was held in 2019, from the beginning of March until the end of July. This time around, Pablo Lara Herrera headed up a parallel survey focused on a Spanish-speaking audience, bringing in an additional 38 respondents. I’m grateful to Pablo for helping to get this survey in front of more eyes! We ended up bringing the total to 648, which…
I’m happy to report that the 2019 Survey of Paleoartists ! Thanks to Pablo Lara and Julián Bayona for their hard work to make the translation. This survey will remain active through July of 2019, and at that point we will begin tabulating the results of both versions of the survey and combining them into a report of the results. While we’ve already surpassed the number of respondents from the 2017 survey, having this year’s survey available in Spanish as…
Paleoartists, it’s time to be heard! The 2019 edition of the paleoartists survey . Since I’ve created a page for the survey here at LITC, I’m not going to make this a long post. I’ll just ask that in addition to participating, you share the survey far and wide! My goal is 700 respondents this year, double our 2017 number. I think it’s possible, but I need your help to spread the word. Especially if you know an artist who…
I’m happy to announce that Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs is now on Patreon! It’s been a decision I’ve mulled over for a really long time, and after consulting with the rest of the team and considering my expectations, I finally decided to put a page together and hit “launch.” So… what does it mean for the blog? First of all… We will continue publishing as we do now. This is not a paywall. This remains a blog by…
Today, Brian Engh announces his new paleoart contest and we’re happy to help spread the word. Read on for all of the details from Brian himself.
